MDS – Master of Dental Surgery
Eligibility for MD Course
A candidate for admission to the MDS Course (Master of Dental Surgery) must have a recognized degree of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) awarded by an Indian University in respect of recognized Dental college under section 10(2) of the Dentists Act 1948 or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Dental Council of India and should have obtained permanent registration with the state Dental Council. Candidates not possessing a recognised Dental qualification for the above purpose should secure the prior approval of his qualifications by the Dental Council of India before he can be admitted to the MDS course of this University. Candidate who possess PG Diploma recognized by the DCI with the duration of 2 years (proposed) in particular specialty is eligible for admission in MDS in the same specialty and the duration will be 2 years. The syllabus of two years programme will be as per the university guidelines. 
Provided that in the case of a foreign national, the Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate training restricted to the M.G. Dental College for the time being exclusively for postgraduate studies. Provided further that the temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subjected to the condition that such person is duly registered as dental practitioner in his own country from which he has obtained his basic dental qualification and that his degree is recognised by the corresponding dental council or concerned authority.
Selection of postgraduate students
I. On the basis of the individual's cumulative performance at the first, second, third & Final BDS examination.
or
II. On the basis of merit as determined by the competitive Entrance test conducted by the university 
or
III. Combination of (i) and (ii)
Period of Training
The Course shall be of three years duration. All the candidates for the degree of MDS are required to pursue the prescribed course for at least three academic years course as full time candidate in a BDS recognized and MDS approved / recognized Institution under the direction of the Head of the Department, who has to be recognized postgraduate teacher in that specialty. 1. Every Student, selected for admission to a postgraduate dental course in MGDCH shall possess recognized BDS degree equivalent qualification and should have obtained Registration with any of the state Dental Councils or should obtain the same within one month from the date of his admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.

2. Students undergoing postgraduate course shall be exposed to the following:-
a) Basics of statistics to understand and critically evaluate published research papers.
b) A few lectures on other type of exposure of human behavior studies. 
c) Basic understanding of pharmaco-economics.
d) Introduction to the non-linear mathematics.
Hostel Facilities
• P.G. training is a full time residency program as per DCI Regulations and it is mandatory for all the PG residents to stay in the campus.
• There is a separate hostel for PG Residents available in the campus. Accommodation for married students is allowed in the Hostel. 
• Hostel accommodation to all the residents admitted to the Post Graduate Dental Course in the Institution is compulsory so as to maintain regularity, standard of medical 
education and discipline.
• Mess Charges: Mess charges as applicable.
• Residents can cook their own food also in the room. 

Fee Structure MDS Course

NRI Students:

  • Tuition Fee : USD 28,000.00 (US Dollar Twenty Eight Thousand) per annum (or its equivalent in other currencies or its equivalent in INR) from an NRI account. In addition, student has to deposit cash security / Bank guarantee of 2 years of balance course duration amounting to USD 56,000.00 (or its equivalent in other currencies or its equivalent in INR) from an NRI account at the time of admission.
  • Caution Money: USD 2000.00 (or its equivalent in other currencies), interest free refundable on completion of Course

 

CET Students:

  • Tuition Fee : Rs. 6,50,000.00 per annum. In addition, student has to deposit cash security / Bank guarantee of 2 years of balance course duration amounting to Rs. 13,00,000.00, at the time of admission.
  • Caution Money: Rs. 1,00,000.00 (interest free refundable on completion of Course)
