Overview

The pathology department is the backbone of the medical college and hospital. The Mahatma Gandhi University has a big spacious well ventilated and well equipped pathology department with modern state of art facility. It consists of modern teaching laboratories, air conditioned lecture theatres with audio visual facilities. The pathology museum boasts of a collection of specimen of rare diseases. Department has modern histopathology, cytopathology, haematology and service laboratories for catering the needs of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital attached to the medical college. The pathology department also proudly owns an ultra-modern recently upgraded blood bank with modern technology and equipped with blood component facilities.
The pathology department provides all the investigations to the OPD & IPD patients of the hospital. It is equipped with modern haematology analyzers, urine analyzers and has the facilities for coagulation studies. The laboratory runs round the clock & provides emergency service.
MGUMST Pharmacology department provides the facilities for routine exfoliative cytology & Aspiration cytology. USG and CT Guided aspiration is also done by the department.
The histopathology is done by experienced faculty and facilities for histochemistry&ImmunoHistochemistry are available.
Undergraduate teaching is done by all faculty members. Theory & Practical teaching is done by audio visual equipments. The students are involved in group discussions & seminars.
The Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology admits five P.G. students every year. A rigorous daily teaching programme schedule is followed in the form of discussion, seminars and journals with emphasis on recent advance in pathology. The facility for Microphotography is available.
The department is proud of its first batch already completed the training and working successfully in the field.

  • A study of cytomorphological evaluation of different thyroid lesions by fine needle Aspiration cytology with special reference to recently introduced Bethesda System for reporting Thyroid cytopathology.
