Anti-Alcohol / Drug Abuse Policy

Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Jaipur has the responsibility to maintain an educational environment conducive to academic and vocational achievement.

The University recognizes that the Use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs may interfere with student’s educational goals and also may interfere with the education environment in the Institute campus.

Therefore, Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Jaipur has a stringent policy governing the use of alcohol and other drugs. The purchase, possession, use, consumption, sale, distribution or storage of any alcoholic beverage, controlled substance or illegal drug is prohibited on the University campus, training sites and at all University sponsored students' events, conferences and activities. The said policy is applicable to the already studying as well as new inducted students.

As per The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003, smoking of tobacco in public places, except in special smoking zones in hotels, restaurants, airports is prohibited. Places where smoking is restricted include auditoriums, movie theatres, hospitals, public transport (aircraft, buses, trains, metros, monorails, taxis,) and their related facilities (airports, bus stands/ stations, railway stations), restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs, amusement centres, offices (government and private), libraries, courts, post offices, markets, shopping malls, canteens, refreshment rooms, banquet halls, discotheques, coffee houses, educational institutions and parks.

The students as per this policy are directed to adhere strictly to the specific
norms as stated below.

This policy is a part and parcel of the rules and regulations of the Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Jaipur.

The purchase, possession, use, consumption, sale, distribution or storage of any alcoholic beverage, controlled substance or illegal drug is prohibited on University campus, training sites and at University sponsored students' events, conferences and activities.

Under suspicious circumstances, the students may be tested at random for substance abuse at any point of time during their stay on campus.

Students may be asked by the University authorities to submit the drug/alcohol test report after regular interval of time.

Students involved in accidents can be asked to submit the drug/alcohol test report.

If any student of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Jaipur is found under the influence/ possession of alcohol or illegal/banned drugs/substances or if found distributing the same or is caught smoking cigarette in the Institute campuses or training sites or at any of the University sponsored students' events, conferences and activities; it could potentially lead to termination of the student from the rolls of the Institute.

An affidavit to this effect (Annexure-1 & 2) shall be submitted by the students and their parents to the Principal of the concerned college at the time of admission. Such affidavit shall also be submitted by the already studying students and their parents..
