Nursing College of Mahatma Gandhi University Medical Sciences & Technology

The Mahatma Gandhi Nursing College, established in the year 2003, offers graduate & post graduates programs in nursing to meet the diverse needs of the healthcare sector. Qualified and experienced full-time nursing faculty provides the right mix of inputs comprising of theoretical, practical and clinical experience. All programs are recognized by both Indian Nursing Council and Rajasthan Nursing Council. Nursing training programs have been formulated in consultation with experts adhering to standards and guidelines. Hands-on-training is given to the students at the 900-bed multi super-speciality hospital at the University, as well as in allied urban and rural health centers. Nursing students attend OPD sessions in the hospital. Students visit different places under community connect and provide primary health services. Student actively participates in health awareness programs.

Students regularly interact with faculty members, doctors, and students from medical, dental and Physiotherapy colleges to hone their technical and managerial skills and are groomed as competent nurses. Students have access to study material in different forms such as books, research journals, magazines, newspapers and CDs at the computerized and internet connected library.

Mahatma Gandhi Nursing College also provides diploma course in nursing i.e. General Nursing and Midwifery through Mahatma Gandhi Nursing School, established in the year 2001.

Labs

Nursing Foundation Lab

The primary goal of the Nursing Foundation Lab is to enhance the nursing students to learn the basic nursing skills and intervention concepts with the valuable opportunity of practicing them on adult-sized “patients in an acute care hospital setting. The basic skill of nursing practice is through the utilization of theory and kinesthetic learning principles.

The physical layout accommodates various learning areas according to the needs of the students. The lab consists of 20 hospital beds holding “patients” (10 mannequins). The “patients”, with movable limbs and replaceable parts, are recipients of a variety of nursing interventions – repositioning, injections, intravenous catheters, nasogastric tubes, Foleys catheters, wound care, and oxygenation therapy. The uniqueness of the Lab is that it combines the atmosphere of the hospital environment with sophisticated learning technology. It is instrumental for insuring the success of all our nursing students as they progress throughout their baccalaureate program.

Maternal and Child Health Lab

Maternal And Child Health Lab is designed to demonstrate and hands on practice regarding antenatal, intranatal, postnatal procedures and to teach and practice various procedures related to new born care and child health. The uniqueness of the Lab is that it combines the atmosphere of the hospital environment with sophisticated learning technology. It is instrumental for insuring the success of all our nursing students as they progress throughout their baccalaureate program.

Community Health Nursing Lab

Community Health Nursing Lab helps students to learn simulation based preventive, promotive and curative health services which are applicable in rural and urban community areas

Nutrition Lab

Nutrition lab is well equipped for Teaching as well as hands on practice of planning and preparation of therapeutic diet

Computer Lab

Students acquire basic as well as advanced computer skills using computer lab.

A.V. Aids Room

Audio visual aids lab is equipped with standard models, charts and mannequins which aids teachers in provision of effective teachings.

Advanced Skill Lab

The Advanced Skill Lab provides all resources for students to conduct new assessments or recertify existing skills which helps in building up competence and confidence and enhance learning in the clinical practice setting. The CLS is equipped with a simulated nurses’ station, fully equipped crash carts, medication carts, ECG machines and other clinical equipment, this aids in giving a realistic, but safe, learning environment for learning basic and advanced nursing care.

Class room

All classrooms and lecture theatres are equipped with modern teaching aids and provided with comfort and conductive environment for learning and assimilation.
