Course Overview
A family physician should posses the core content of knowledge, skills and attitude which would enable him/her to address effectively all the problems of patients at the point of first contact. This highly individualized patient-centred approach is the hallmark of a Family Medicine specialist as opposed to a disease-centred approach of other specialists. Primary care is thus performed by a personal physician who also coordinates the care when required by referral to other specialists and health care professionals and follows up the patient as the physician whose aim is to keep the person healthy as the entry point for their health needs.
