The department offers a 3-year post-doctoral residency program in Clinical Hematology (recognised by the NMC). It encompasses speciality training in the clinical management of both Benign and Malignant Hematological disorders and Bone marrow transplantation. During the course of the DM program, the trainee shall get a thorough clinical exposure of the entire spectrum of hematological disorders listed below

  • Hemato-oncology
  • Benign Hematology
  • Bone Marrow Transplantation
  • Consultative Hematology

Course Overview

The trainee shall get a hands-on exposure to various procedures such as

  • Bone Marrow Aspiration and Biopsy
  • Administration of Chemotherapy
  • Lumbar Puncture and Intrathecal Chemotherapy
  • PICC Line Insertion
  • Apheresis
  • Bone Marrow Transplantation

Career Path

After completion of the 3 year training, the graduate is expected to be proficient in the practice of Clinical Hematology. The various career avenues open for the graduate are - practice in a teaching, corporate or a private hospital; pursuit of further specialisation and fellowships in either of the sub-branches of Hematology or pursuit of a research-based career (clinical or basic sciences).
