It is a 3 years duration super specialty course which is done after completion of post graduation in OBS & Gynecology. It is offered by few medical colleges across India. Admission is done through NEET-SS entrance Exam conducted by NBE.

Course Overview

The main purpose of the course is to impart knowledge in all the areas of Reproductive Medicine & Surgery including reproductive anatomy, physiology, endocrinology, pathology basics of sonography in infertility as well as fetal medicine. ? It deals with prevention, diagnosis and management of reproductive problems. ? It involves advanced infertility issues like assisted reproductive techniques, embryology, andrology, urology, reproductive genetics, gynae endoscopic surgeries. It addresses issues of sexual education, puberty and its disorders, sexual dysfunction, high risk pregnancy and pre mature ovarian failure as well as HRT. ? It also covers third party reproduction and surrogacy as well as psychological counselling in infertile couples.

Career Path

After completion of this course, students can work independently as infertility and IVF specialist. Students can also work in surgical assignments at specialized medical care centres and medical colleges. A few highly qualified surgeons may take up research activities simultaneously. Further, a handful of surgical consultants, after the considerable experience may shift towards development of clinical practice guidelines in ART at national and international level and can also work in government organizations to evaluate and develop rules and regulations for ART.
