The Department of Surgical gastroenterology was started in year 2013 and doing approximately 500 operations per year. The department is running a MCh in Surgical Gastroenterology program under NMC Guidelines. The 1st batch started in 2020 with two seats.

Course Overview

The course is targeted to provide specialized training of GI surgical procedures with research and publication in the same field. The course provides special exposure of GI and HPB surgery in daily ward rounds, operation theater and academic activities.

Career Path

Upon successful completion of the M.Ch. Surgical Gastroenterology course, the post graduates are well-trained to pursue careers as specialized gastrointestinal surgeons in academic institutions as well as in corporate or private hospitals. Various fields of practice after finishing M.Ch. Surgical gastroenterology includes G.I Surgery/advanced laparoscopic surgery, Colorectal surgery, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgery, Liver Transplant surgery etc.
