Dr. Achal Gulati

Dr Achal Gulati is the President/Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Jaipur.

Dr Gulati is a graduate of the University of Delhi, trained as an Otorhinolaryngologist & Head & Neck Surgeon at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He has undergone management and administration certification courses from the IIM Ahmedabad, the UP Academy of Administration, Nainital and the School of Management, New Delhi.

He has a vast teaching, clinical, research and administrative experience of more than 40 years and has held many distinguished positions such as President of the Ethics & Medical Registration Board and the Medical Assessment & Rating Board of the National Medical Commission; Addl. Director General Health Services, Government of India; Director, Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of PGMER, New Delhi; Founder Director Principal, Dr. BSA Medical College & Hospital, New Delhi and Professor of Excellence, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.

He is a fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, the Indian Academy of Otolaryngology & Head & Neck Surgery and the International Medical Science Academy. He is the recipient of numerous orations and awards, including amongst others, the “National Eminent Teacher of Excellence Award” by the Government of India, “Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan National Award” for Eminent Teacher, the “State Award for Contribution to the Field of Medicine”, “The Great Teaching Master Award”, “Times Research Media Excellence Award in Healthcare, Vishishta Chikitsa Ratn Award” etc.

A pioneer in the development of the OSCE model of evaluation at the PG examination level, a keen and professional quizmaster at National and International level, a food and travel critique writer, Dr Gulati has about 95 peer reviewed national and international academic publications. He has developed numerous CDs on examination techniques and has also produced and directed a documentary film titled “To be or not to be” which is based on end of life issues.

He has been invited as a visiting professor to deliver series of Guest Lectures and conduct workshops and training courses at the University of Padua, Italy and the Mayo Clinic, USA.

He is presently the member of Board of Governors of the International Rhinologic Society, the current President of the Indian Society of Rhinoplasty & the former President of the All India Rhinology Society.
