Dr. Bhawani Shanker Sharma, Director Neurosciences, trained in PGI Chandigarh underwent sponsored advanced training in Microneurosurgery in UK. Worked as faculty for 16 years in PGI, Chandigarh, became Professor in March, 2000 at AIIMS, New Delhi and worked as HOD for 8 years at AIIMS. Obtained further training in endoscopic neurosurgery in Germany. He is a Fellow of American College of Surgeons. Has guided 50 thesis for P.G. residents. Has organized 50 conferences and completed 10 research projects. Has published more than 430 peer reviewed research papers in international and national journals, chapters in books and edited 4 books. Recipient of Dr. Shurvir Singh award for best scientist. Certificate of appreciation of services by Vice President of India 2007 and 2019. Delivered 7 prestigious orations in medical colleges/institutes.

Has served as president of neurological society of India (NSI), cerebrovascular Society of India, Skull Base Surgery Society of India, neurotrauma society of India, Delhi neurological association and indian society of peripheral nerve surgery. He currently holds chair of education committee Asian Australasian society of neurological surgeons. Delivered guest lectures in 24 countries Demonstrated micro and endoscopic operations in many live operative workshops in the country. Developed skull base, cerebrovascular and endoscopic surgery in AIIMS, New Delhi. He specializes in minimally invasive and micro-endoscopic surgery of brain and spine.
