Dr. (Prof.) Prakash Kumar

Principal

Prof. (Dr.) Prakash Kumar is the Principal of Mahatma Gandhi Occupational Therapy College, MGUMST Jaipur. Before being the principal, he was an Associate Professor at the Amity Institute of Health Allied Sciences, Amity University, Noida. Dr Kumar has a solid academic background and extensive research experience in Occupational Therapy. He completed his bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GOI), Delhi University, in 2006, followed by a postgraduate specialisation in orthopaedics from Jamia Hamdard in 2008. After completing his education, Dr Kumar began his professional journey at AIIMS, New Delhi, as a research scholar and was responsible for managing a DST-sponsored web portal (www.oldgaesolutions.org) for elderly health and Rehabilitation care.

He completed his collaborative PhD in Geriatric Mental Health at King George's Medical University, Lucknow, and AIIMS, New Delhi 2016. He also got awarded an ICMR individual Senior Research Fellowship for sponsoring and supporting his PhD study. After completing his PhD, he was awarded a prestigious international scholarship from the Government of Ireland for two years of advanced research in Medical Gerontology from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. During this tenure, he also trained in “Biostatistics” and “Big Data Analysis” at University College Dublin. He got certification in Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis from John Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA and in Dementia from the University of Nottingham, UK. After International returned from Post-Doc Research, he resumed his responsibility at AIIMS New Delhi, in the National Program for Health Care of Elderly scheme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's GOI as Senior research officer.
