Dept. of Public Health Dentistry
The department's objective is to train students in the use of oral epidemiological methods to study oral diseases, investigate the risk factors for oral disease, to study basics of public health, preventive dentistry, basics of dental statistics, national oral health policy and undertake measures to provide comprehensive dental treatment to the patients.The student will acquire skill in identifying oral health problems affecting the society, conduct oral health surveys and develop a positive attitude towards the problems of the society and take responcibility to provide oral health care.

• Acquire knowledge to access prevalence of oral disease in india.
• Acquire social and cultural knowledge contributing to oral disease.
• Epidemiological research, research methology and dental statistics.
• Public health basics,ethics and jurisprudence,nutrition and behavioural sciences
• Administer oral hygiene instructions, topical fluoride application and pit and fissure sealant application.
• Acquire knowledge in dental practice management ,DCI and role of IDA in Dentistry.
The students are trained to develop cognitive skills by regular training to treat the community.The knowledge is implemented in an uncompromised ethical way to treat patients who come to the institution and also by students and staff offering their free services at various community based programs. Camps are arranged to educate and motivate the general public to prevent and treat oral diseases at an early stage.Thus the deparment sensitizes its students on social responsibilities through outreach programs.
The department has been promoting extension activities through camps in villages, and industries surrounding the college.It has 2 public relation officers, to organize these extension activities according to schedule. Patients from camps are referred to institution for treatment. Sometimes free transport facility and treatments are offered to these patients.The institute organizes need based extension programs like organization of oral health education programs, screening and treatment camps at various villages, schools and industries on regular basis.The gram sarpanch of villages or village pramukh or Principals and Head masters of schools and colleges, are involved in oral health camps and in mobilizing people, who are in need of oral care. Many a times the PRO department of medical college coordinates with the dental college in organising and coordinating outreach activities of the university as a whole.
Thus department has an extensive outreach program to deliver dental care to the surrounding areas , by the use of mobile dental unit and portable dental equipments to expose the dental students to a wide array of cases in dentistry. It has two rural sattellite centres and a urban dental health center for the benifit of serving the people of Jaipur.
