Occupational Therapy helps people of all ages regain independence and improve their quality of life following illness, injury, disability or developmental conditions.

It provides specialised rehabilitation in neurological, orthopaedic, paediatric, geriatric and mental health care to restore physical, cognitive, sensory and social functioning.

Occupational therapists also support individuals with chronic and complex medical conditions through rehabilitation, assistive technology, environmental modifications and community reintegration.

By promoting functional independence, well-being and participation in daily life, Occupational Therapy plays a vital role in holistic healthcare.

Yes. During the internship period, students are posted on rotation in the OPD and IPD of the clinical departments at MGMC&H.

Students are also posted at community centres of MGMC&H for Community-Based Rehabilitation.

Graduates can pursue a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) in specialised areas such as Orthopaedics, Neurosciences, Paediatrics and other emerging fields to enhance their clinical expertise and academic qualifications.

They can work as Occupational Therapists in clinical settings, rehabilitation centres and multispeciality hospitals across departments including:

  • Orthopaedics
  • Neurology
  • Paediatrics
  • Geriatrics
  • Mental health
  • Intensive care

Graduates can also establish their own occupational therapy practices, such as a Neurorehabilitation Centre, Child Development Centre or community-based rehabilitation clinic, providing specialised, patient-centred care and promoting functional independence.
