Overview

The Department of Forensic Medicine in Mahatma Gandhi Medical College is evolving with the goal of developing a centre of excellence in education, training and research in the field of Forensic medicine & Toxicology.

The faculty is working to develop teaching and research modules that are of relevance to the current society. The medical college is one of the few in the private sector that specialises in medico-legal work. Since the establishment, the faculty has been conducting autopsies, preparing MLRs (Medico-Legal Reports) which include age, sex, injury reports, alcohol examination, and more.

The department is fortunate to have senior faculty members who oversee the curriculum for undergraduate students and medico-legal work.

To facilitate learning and research, the department is fully Wi-Fi enabled with an exclusive library, enabling students to access the central library online as well. The department practises decentralisation of tasks through active departmental committees to ensure smooth operation.

The postgraduate students have access to a well-equipped research laboratory where they can conduct their practical studies. The faculty members are well trained in ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and online resources. Moreover, they are also pursuing advanced courses in Medical Education (ACME) at NMC (National Medical Commission) nodal centres.
