The Department of Palliative Medicine is a specialized clinical department that focuses on improving the quality of life for patients with life limiting illnesses like cancer, heart failure, chronic liver and renal diseases.

Managing pain and other symptoms and providing psychological, social and spiritual support for both patients and their families throughout the course of illness.

The services provided by the department includes Adult and Paediatric Palliative care, Emergency Palliative care, In Patient department, Out patient department, management of acute and chronic pain, symptom management, psychological counselling, Stoma care and wound care, Lymphedema management, Advance care planning, End of life care and bereavement support.

Department has availability of, oral, transdermal, and intravenous preparations of narcotics.

Palliative care is a team work, provided by multidisciplinary medical professionals who meet regularly to discuss patient care and develop a comprehensive care plan for each patients.

Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Jaipur is the first Private Medical College in North India to start MD Palliative Medicine. At present we have 6 Postgraduate trainees pursuing MD Palliative Medicine Program in our department.
