The department is dedicated to both the theoretical and practical aspects of pharmacology, encompassing both experimental and clinical sciences. Experimental pharmacology is crucial for understanding the mechanisms of drug action in various diseases as well as for drug discovery and development in the pharmaceutical industry.

On the other hand, clinical pharmacology plays an essential role in ensuring rational drug prescribing practices in medicine as well as in the fields of clinical trials and pharmacovigilance.

In addition to the primary focus on medical students, the Department of Pharmacology also provides teaching and training to students pursuing careers in dental, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and various BSc allied health sciences courses. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that students from a diverse range of healthcare fields are equipped with a solid understanding of pharmacology and its applications.

The faculty members are experts in their respective fields, with a strong emphasis on research and academic excellence.

They are actively involved in insightful research projects, contributing to the advancement of pharmacological knowledge and practices. The students are also granted the opportunity to engage in research activities, gaining valuable hands-on experience that complements their classroom learning.
