Overview

The Gastroenterology department at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Hospitals was established in 2016 and is highly developed with modern technology.

It consists of three faculties and nine residents, providing most efficient facilities for outpatient and inpatient care, intensive care, and endoscopy.

The residents receive specialised training in clinical skills and endoscopic procedures through a dedicated teaching and training programme. The college provides a DM Gastroenterology programme offering three seats as recognised by the Medical Council of India. Over the past six years, the department has published nearly 20 papers in national and international journals.

The team has performed numerous diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures

with excellent outcomes, including pancreatic endotherapy, endoscopic cysto-gastrostomy, and stenting for complex hilar strictures, as well as metallic stenting for biliary, esophageal, and antro-duodenal conditions. The college is proud of the department;s performance for which it recently received the Best Gastroenterology and Hepatology Services award at the Healthcare Leaders Summit 2022, presented by the Economic Times in New Delhi.
