The department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College is comprises some of the best rehabilitation specialists in the field.

It provides OPD services on all the working days along with 24 hours emergency care and IPD care. The department is relatively new but exponentially growing into one of the best-known physical rehabilitation centres with special emphasis laid on Neurorehabilitation, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, Paediatric, Intervention Pain management, Sports Injury management and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation.

The department offers an all-encompassing facility for advanced neurological rehabilitation, catering to a range of conditions including post stroke, parkinsonism, head injury, spinal cord injury, and cerebral palsy. The comprehensive care includes various therapies such as Physiotherapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Prosthesis and Orthoses (P&O), Speech therapy, and social worker support.

The department also possesses indoor services regarding post-acute and post-surgical rehabilitation care for various musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary and patients with various disabilities like spinal cord injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, post-polio residual paralysis, spasticity and involuntary movement management, orthosis and prosthesis prescriptions and fitting and regular health camps for specially abled patients.

The specialised services offered also extend to performing soft tissue release surgeries for patients with disabilities like Cerebral Palsy and Post-Polio cases. The faculty regularly holds specialty clinics addressing pain management, spasticity, and disability management; ensuring that individuals receive appropriate and specific care.

Additionally, the faculty is determined to provide assessment and correction for gait and posture issues and comprehensive training in this field of medicine. The department also offers balance assessments and implements corrective measures for individuals across different age groups and from paediatric to geriatric patients with various neurological disorders.

Furthermore, the team prescribes orthoses for individuals with various metabolic, neurological, and vascular diseases to enhance their overall well-being. Lastly, they also provide a secondary lifestyle disease care program to holistically address the needs and challenges faced by the patients.
