Overview

The Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Management at Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology is equipped with advanced infrastructure and highly qualified faculty members who are well-known nationwide.

The department is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care in all arenas of anaesthesiology, perioperative medicine, and critical care; both independently and in collaboration with its specialised branches such as Cardiac Anaesthesiology, Neuro Anaesthesiology, Transplant Anaesthesiology, Oncology Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care, and Pain Management.

Equipped with as many as 30 operation theatres with top-notch technology and centrally air-conditioned, provide advanced monitoring capabilities. These cutting-edge facilities enable us to handle patients with high-risk medical conditions effectively. The teaching modules include a combination of clinical theory lectures, seminars, case presentations, regular assessment tests, journal clubs, workshops, and inter departmental presentations.

The department offers anaesthesia services beyond the traditional operating room (NORA) in remote locations for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. We have several facilities within the department including a pre-anesthesia clinic, faculty rooms, departmental library, demonstration room, seminar room, and common room.

Practical training for postgraduate students is carried out in operation theatres, in accordance with the norms outlined by NMC.

Classes for undergraduate students, on the other hand, are conducted in the lecture theatres of the medical college. This holistic approach not only equips students with knowledge and skills in anaesthesiology but also shapes their perspective as medical professionals. The department of anaesthesia is also at the forefront of providing ACLS, ATLS training, and BLS training to both medical and paramedical students.
