MOT

COURSE OUTLINE:

The Master Degree in Occupational Therapy is a two year full time program consisting of classroom teaching, self-academic activities and clinical posting. In the first year theoretical basis of Occupational Therapy is refreshed along with research methodology, Education technology and biostatistics. The students are rotated in all areas of clinical expertise during this period. They are required to choose their study for dissertation and submit a synopsis. During the second year the students will be posted in their area of specialty.

They are required to complete and submit their dissertation. The learning program includes seminars, journal reviews, case presentations, case discussions and classroom teaching. Some of the clinical postings are provided at other reputed centers in the country in order to offer a wider spectrum of experience. The students are encouraged to attend conference, workshop & seminar to enhance their knowledge during the course of study. University examinations are held at the end of first year and at the end of second year.

GOALS OF THE COURSE:

The Master of Occupational Therapy course is intended to help prepare students for assumption of responsibility in positions of leadership in Occupational Therapy as:

1.Preparation of a postgraduate student towards his/her professional autonomy with self-regulating discipline at par with global standards.

2.Formation of base of the professional practice by referral as well as first contact mode using evidence based practice.

3.Imparting research basis in order to validate techniques & technology in practice to Occupational Therapy.

4.Acquainting a student with concept of quality care at the institutional as well as the community levels.

5.Inculcation of appropriate professional relationship in multidisciplinary set up, patient management and co-partnership basis.

6.Preparation of students to address problems related to health education and community Occupational Therapy.

7.Practising the concept of protection of rights of the community during referral as well as first contact practice.

8.Incorporation of concept of management in Occupational Therapy.

9.Experience in clinical training and undergraduate teaching partly.

10.Providing the honest, competent and accountable Occupational Therapy services to the community.

DURATION OF THE COURSE AND COURSE OF STUDY:

1st Year MOT = 0 to 12 Month
Final Year: MOT = 13 to 24 Month

1.The period of certified study and training of the Master of Occupational Therapy Post- Graduate Degree course shall be Two Academic years.

2.No exemption shall be given from this period of study and training for any other experience gained prior to the admission of the course.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION:

English shall be the medium of instruction for all the objects of study for examinations of the Master of Occupational Therapy Degree course.

INTAKE OF STUDENTS:

The intake of students to the course shall be in accordance with the ordinance in this behalf. The guide and the student ratio should be 1:5

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:

Candidates who have passed B.Sc. (OT) or BOT degree from recognized institutions where the mode of study is a full time program, with minimum 3½ years / 4 ½ years duration from this university or any other university in India or abroad as equivalent with not less than 50% of marks in aggregate and have completed 6 months of compulsory rotating internship are eligible. Candidates who have passed BOT through correspondence or Distance Education program are not eligible for MOT admission.

OR

Candidates who have passed BOT through Bridge Course or through Lateral Entry after completing their Diploma in Occupational Therapy from recognized institutions where the mode of study is a full time program from this university or any other university in India or abroad as equivalent with not less than 50% of marks in aggregate and have completed 6 months of compulsory rotating internship are also eligible. Candidates who have passed BOT through correspondence or Distance Education program are not eligible for MOT admission.

PHYSICAL FITNESS CERTIFICATE:

Every candidate before admission to the course shall submit to the Principal of the Institution a Certificate of Medical Fitness from an Authorised Medical Officer that the candidate is physically fit to undergo the academic course and does not suffer from any disability or contagious disease. Students with disability should produce the Disability Certificate issued by the duly constituted District Medical Board.

COMMENCEMENT OF THE COURSE:

Academic Year for Master of Occupational Therapy Post-Graduate Degree Course shall commence from the 1st September of the year of admission.

Selection criteria

Selection criteria of the candidates for the MOT Course shall be on the basis of merit i.e marks obtained in BOT.

Reservation Criterion

The rule of reservation will be based as per the policies of Rajasthan Government.

Instructions for Filling the Application Form

1.Forms must be filled in candidate's own handwriting neatly and legibly, except for signature in English using capital letters.

2.Overwriting, cutting, erasing in the form may lead to rejection and should be avoided.

3.Any discrepancy in the statement and/or submission of incomplete forms will lead to rejection of application/cancellation of admission.

4.Recent photograph (not older than three months) should be pasted at appropriate place on the application. The photograph must be signed by the candidate at the edge and should not be defaced.

5. Name of the Applicant: Write your name in capital letters as it appears in your marks sheet of the qualifying examination.

6.Name of the Parent / Guardian: Write the name of your parent / guardian ( any person, other than the parents of the candidate, can become guardian only if the parents are not alive or are insane).

7.Occupation and Annual income: please mention occupation and annual income of the parents/ guardian.

8.Date of Birth: enter the date, month and year of your birth as recorded in 10th standard board certificates.

9.Address for correspondence: write the complete postal address including PIN code to which all communications are to be sent. Also write the telephone numbers with STD code , mobile telephone number and Fax / E-mail address if any.

10.Declaration: a candidate and the parent / Guardian must sign with date the declaration to authenticate the information provided by them as per format on a non judicial stamp paper of Rs. 10/- and duly attested by the notary public.

11.Details of 10+2: write the month and year, school / college and board / university from where the candidates have passed or passing 10+ 2 or equivalents.

12.Subject wise marks of 10+2: write maximum marks, marks obtained subject wise and the percentage in the appropriate column.

Selection Procedure

1.The procedure to determine the merit of the candidates for admission to the MOT course shall be determined by the basis of merit i.e marks obtained in BOT.

2. Selected candidates will be intimated either by post or by telephone, and are expected to join the course, submit the original certificates, pay the prescribed fees, appear for the medical examination, join the hostel etc. within the stipulated date, failing which the admission is liable to be cancelled and no claim shall be entertained after the prescribed date.

3. Candidates appearing in the merit list up to cut off point (limited to the number of seats in the institute) failing to seek admission by depositing the fee and completing requisite formalities within the specified period shall be treated as not interested in the admission and shall forfeit their chance of admission to the institute.

4.The candidates next in merit shall be admitted in similar manner against the vacant seats.

5.Please do not send any original certificates along with the application form. These should be produced & submitted when called for or at the time of admission only. Failure to submit the original certificates at the time of admission will result in cancellation of admission.

6.Any application form found incomplete will summarily stand rejected.

7.The institute does not take any responsibility for delay in receipt or loss of the application or correspondence in transit.

Migration

No claim or application for migration to other Occupational Therapy College shall be entertained from the students admitted to this Institution at any course of time.
In case, any eligibility/equivalent certificate, if required, is not submitted by the candidates within the time limit ascertained, his / her selection for admission to the Occupational Therapy course (M.O.T.) is liable to be cancelled.

Fee Structure for MPT

Fee Structure

Tuition Fee: Rs. 60,000.00 per annum. In addition students will give cash security / Bank guarantee of 2 years of balance course duration amounting Rs. 60,000.00, at the time of admission.

Caution Money: Rs. 10,000.00 (Interest free Refundable on completion of Course)

Note: fee will be deposited by a Demand Draft on the name of Mahatma Gandhi Medical University of Medical Sciences & Technology, payable at Jaipur

Cancellation and Refund

If a student withdraws / gets cancelled his admission after joining the course, but before the last date of admission prescribed in this regard, and if such vacant seat is filled by another candidate by the last date of admission then the fees paid shall be proportionately deducted (which will be approximately 10% of the tuition fees) for the period the student has attended the college along with proportionate deduction of hostel fees and the balance fees along with original certificate will be returned to the student. However, if no other candidate is available and student leaves the course, entire fee of course will be confiscated.

Mess Charges:

• Before commencement of the academic session, the Mess charges shall be collected annually on sharing basis.
• Hostel accommodation is available for all the students admitted in MOT course.
• Hostel charges shall be paid in full at the beginning of the year.
